Finance Committee

The Transplant Information Services (TIS) Finance Committee is a standing committee responsible for ensuring that TIS is in good financial health and that the University of Minnesota Transplant Program resources are managed, used appropriately and in the most efficient way possible.  The Finance Committee consults with the TIS Board of Managers on the annual budget process; regularly reviews and makes recommendations regarding the financial state of TIS; and develops and recommends long range financial objectives for TIS.

Specifically, the Finance Committee

  • Prepares the annual budgets;

  • Monitors and reviews TIS quarterly expenses;

  • Presents budget summaries to the TIS Board of Managers;

  • Reviews TIS data required for Medicare cost reports;

  • Advises the TIS Board of Managers regarding budgets;

  • Describes and explains variances in budgets to the TIS Board of Managers;

  • Recommends changes in the annual budget to the TIS Board of Managers;

  • Evaluates membership concerns and advises the TIS Board of Managers on the use and allocations of TIS resources.

The TIS Finance Committee membership consists of the Administrative Director of transplantation, the TIS Director, financial officers (or their designees) from each of the three partners, and the Chairman of the Board of TIS.  The medical directors of TIS will serive in an ex officio capacity.  At the discretion of the committee, outside members will be asked to contribute.  The committee will meet quarterly, at a minimum, 2 to 4 weeks before each Board of Managers Meeting.
